“PSTN” is the network of the world’s public circuit-switched telephone networks.

Point of Presence (POP)

“Point of Presence (POP)” means setting up of switching center and transmission center of appropriate capacity to provide on demand service of prescribed quality and grade of service in a non – discriminatory manner.

Point of Interconnection (POI)

physical location at which two or more networks interconnect through switches, nodes or other facilities and offering access to the operator/service operators.


“Peering” is voluntary interconnection of administratively separate Internet networks for the purpose of exchanging traffic between the customers of each network. The pure definition of peering is settlement-free or “sender keeps all,” meaning that neither party pays the other for the exchanged traffic, instead, each derives revenue from its own customers.
