Chairman, BTRC

Mr. Md. Jahurul Haque joined as a Commissioner of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on 30 August 2015. In 13 May 2018 he was made acting chairman of the commission as former chairman Dr. Shahjahan Mahmood has completed his session. From that day he has officiated in three important posts as Acting Chairman, Vice Chairman and Commissioner of Legal and licensing department. He was given the responsibility of the new chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on January 30, 2019.

Mr. Md. Jahurul Haque was born on 05 December 1955 in Jamalpur district. He has completed his SSC in 1971 from Polisha High School of Madarganj upazila and HSC in 1973 from Govt. Ashek Mahmud College of Jamalpur. Later, he received his bachelor's degree LLB (Hon’s) from Rajshahi University in 1980 and master's of Law degree in 1981.

Mr. Haque started his career as an Assistant Judge on 20 April 1983. During his long judicial career, he was the District Judge and Sessions Judge of various Districts across Bangladesh including Sirajganj, Moulvibazar, Netrokona and Narayanganj. After successfully serving as the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge (Senior District Judge) for four years, Mr. Haque retired from judicial service on 4 December 2014. He has received the foundation training from Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center. Besides, he was also trained at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI).

In addition, he also participated in numerous training courses on judicial service at both home and abroad. As part of judicial training and later as a BTRC official, he visited various countries of the world including Switzerland, England, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, China, and Hong Kong.

In his personal life, Mr. Haque is a proud father of a son and a daughter. His wife is currently Head of the Department also a professor of Psychology of Dhaka College.
